Hello, nice to met you.
WHO AM I?
Growing up, I was raised with a very open and artistic mind. Every single day I have learned to learn and grow with these two qualities. Currently, I'm a rising senior at The University of North Carolina Wilmington, working towards a B.S. in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing Strategy. I love the major I selected, hopefully after graduation I can find a marketing team to call home.
RESUME
My Experience
I am apart of the University of North Carolina Wilmington's (UNCW) Cameron School of Business Executive Network. I have worked with the Village Family Dental Marketing team at my home town of Fayetteville. Recently, I had the honor of an International Marketing Internship for Mo' Mo' Kitchen & Bar in Sorrento, Italy. I plan on searching for another internship once I return to the states.
MO' MO' MARKETING INTERNSHIP
Mo' Mo' Kitchen & Bar is a popular restaurant that caters to both locals and tourists in a highly competitive market located in Sorrento, Italy. During my internship, I had a lot of freedom in conducting my own work. Through my work I was supported and helped by Emily, Sant' Annas Internship coordinator and Fabio, Mo' Mo's headwaiter. Below I've summarized a few of my duties and projects during my stay. If you would like to see in detail my research, analysis, and plans for the company click the button below to see my Marketing Plan.
RESEARCH
Everyday Jobs
Most of my work was researching to create detailed analytical documents related to marketing a restaurant in Sorrento, Italy. My days normally included formulating plans, creating social promotions for Instagram and Facebook, responding to positive and negative reviews on TripAdvisor and Facebook.
THE FUN
Absorbing Culture
I really enjoyed myself every day at this internship while still getting work done. I did this by immersing myself into their life to better understand the company culture. I created a strong relationship with the restaurant staff and customers. I went even further to expanded my own knowledge of the area by traveling on the weekends, speaking with locals, and learning more about what makes the Sorrento area unique.

Business Cards
In the Marketing plan, I present different ideas for promoting the restaurant. During my stay, I did everything possible that could be put into action in one short month. One of my products was the business card above. This card offered 10% off one dinner meal. The owners had them printed and I disturbed them to local hotels and tourism spots.
SKILLS GAINED
Taking on an internship abroad has shown me my ability to push myself to utilize my creativity and business mindset. I learned the importance of developing new skills and talents by working myself mentally and physically everyday. I plan on carrying and expanding these new-found strengths with me throughout life.
DETERMINATION
Despite obstacles
This being my first internship I wanted to present my absolute best, making something of myself with this opportunity. Not only gaining experience but to also excel myself in the business world.
ABSORBING
Everything around me
Being in such a different environment I feel like you either sink or swim. I prospered. I took the unfamiliar surroundings and look at them as a new canvases, in turn made profit with my experience and work.
INITIATIVE
Getting creative
Little directions or rules were given to me, I was extremely free range. I got to decide what kind of projects I thought were worth wild for the company.

The painting in Mo'Mo's is in celebration of the Catholic belief in feast of the Annunciation. It's a well known superstition to leave any religious painting in the same place. The bar before Mo'Mo's had the painting placed there, so there it will stay.
And my office. I sat in the dinning room during my stay, free to explore the restaurant and chat.
The Chef showed me how to make fresh Raviolis. He was always spoiling me with surprise sweets.

REFLECTION
My Story
Coming to a new country for the first time I was surprised how excited and fearless I felt. Once arriving the culture was better than I expected. I felt like I was in a dream. Unaware of what to expect in my internship, after the first few days I was feeling that I was in over my head. Most Italians don’t know what an Internship is, or understand once I explain. I realized quick that these projects were going to be self-lead and motivated. More than half of my coworkers could not understand me, nor could I understand them. I researched Italian restaurant and work mannerism, but still was nervous to accidentally insult their culture. Since most did not understand why I was working in their restaurant as the first week went on I started to feel less motived, pointless or inadequate.
I decided very quick that I was here to gain experience from this internship, and I was going to do that one way or another. I had to continue to be courageous and step out of my comfort zone even more. I started by deciding exactly what projects would be best for the company and expand my knowledge. I set goals and achieved every single one. I didn’t just accomplish all of them right after I made this decision, it took a lot of different turns and puzzle pieces.
Being in a new country is almost like an escape game. You must be constantly paying attention to subtle hints and keeping an eye out for clues and cues. A big thing this trip has taught me is to be a quick thinker. I gained a better understanding of ambiguity and learned to be more inquisitive to understand my coworkers. I did this a lot by speaking in extremely broken English and being assertive in using abnormal words to get my point across. Putting yourself into another one’s culture is scary, but once breaking past the barriers I discovered just how much I enjoy learning about other people and their lifestyles. I made relationships with people so diverse, making me more curious to learn about other cultures including my own.
Business is a lot about making connections, learning how to conversant with different cultures I showed myself just how much I can adapt to people. A big part of marketing is creativeness, this internship has made me get creative not only in communication but also my work. Mo’ Mo’s was already such an amazing company at first I didn’t see any room for improvement. But I learned there’s always room for perfection, I just had to outthink the competition. I figured out what the competitors were and weren’t doing, then used it to my advantage. I focused on Mo’ Mo’s positive and negative points. Converting the bad to good and emphasizing on the great.
In the end my hard work and independence paid off, I feel very accomplished and confident in my stay here in Sorrento. I not only completed all my projects to my best ability but I have learned so much about this country, business, and myself. I’ve received multiple kudos from my boss, coworkers, and advisors. I feel extremely blessed to have received this experience. I look forward to cherishing the many memories made and lessons learned.
“This internship, institute, and town is so perfect I don’t think I could’ve even fantasy it.” I still stand by that and hope to one day return to this little town.
